The choice of linen for clothing

Linen fabric will never go out of style in clothing: it is found both in ready-to-wear garments and in the collections of major designers season after season. By wearing linen, you are choosing a natural and stylish material with hypoallergenic, antibacterial and thermoregulating properties. Linen fabric for garments is also a comfortable and supple material that feels pleasant against the skin.

Couture Lin: an extensive range of linen by the metre for clothing

Couture Lin offers numerous linen fabrics by the metre in standard width (1.5 m), ideally suited to garment construction. Our large width linen fabrics (up to 2.7 m) can also be used for this purpose. Our linen fabrics for clothing have a higher or lower weight, and depending on your project, we will recommend a fine linen for shirts, dresses, tunics, even a net curtain made of linen if you are after a transparent effect, or a thicker linen if it's a garment that has to hang in a particular way, such as a jacket or suit. Our pre-washed linen, remarkable for its softness, will be just as suitable for most of your projects.

Our range of linen for clothing is available in about a hundred single colours, from pastel shades particularly suitable for babies and children, to bright and vibrant colours; but we also offer striped and gingham linen fabrics.

Our waterproof linen, meanwhile, can be used to make capes, parkas and rain hats. Note that our coated linens are very supple and particularly pleasant to work with in making clothing. Did you know? Certain linen fabrics are suitable for making fancy dress.
